A
primary goal of TEXPERS is to promote quality fund management,
and is done through the two conferences we offer each year, the
spring Annual Conference and the Summer Educational Forum. In
attending the conferences, members have access to a vast network
of public pension knowledge, forums for information exchange and
to learn from one another and equips trustees, administrators,
staff and members of the Texas public pension community with
timely institutional information.
In
addition, TEXPERS offers fiduciary education program for plan
members. TEXPERS developed and implemented a three-part
Certified Trustee Training Program (CTT) for pension trustees
and related personnel to receive in-depth education on subjects
covering fiduciary duties, governance, investment terms and
practices, ethics, actuarial matters and legal matters. This
intensive program supplements the voluntary continuing fiduciary
education (CFE) program currently offered through our
organization.
Our
conferences present just some of the opportunities available for
our members to earn and maintain their voluntary education
credits as part of the CFE program. To see how our members can
obtain CFE credit or for more information on the program, please
read our CFE Policy. Also, TEXPERS is a Continuing
Professional Education (CPE) program sponsor for the Texas State
Board of Public Accountancy. Licensed Texas CPAs who attend any
of the two TEXPERS conferences offered throughout the year are
able to earn applicable CPE credit.
