Membership in TEXPERS
TEXPERS' member systems represent 197,200 active and retired participants and over $20 billion in assets.
Any public employee retirement system in Texas is eligible for TEXPERS membership. Our membership includes police and fire departments, municipal employees, airport authorities, hospital districts, regional planning commissions, river authorities, state agencies, transit authorities, community colleges, and university medical centers. In addition, our association members include many of the nation's outstanding firms who provide professional services to public pension funds.
Over the past fourteen years, TEXPERS system and associate membership has increased by 480%.

Categories of Membership and How To Join
Descriptions of TEXPERS' Four Categories of Membership
Retirement System Membership
Membership in TEXPERS shall be granted by the Board of Directors to any Texas state or local body of retirement system of public employees which is a legally constituted state or local retirement, pension or annuity and benefit system, or of an association or employee group other than a public employee retirement system which includes active and/or retired public employees, one of whose primary purposes is the purpose of this association, as defined in Article II of the TEXPERS Bylaws. The final power to determine the status of any group for the purpose of membership in TEXPERS is vested in the Board of Directors.
Associate Membership
Associate membership is open to custodians, law firms, investment managers and real estate advisors. The number of associate members is limited and a membership application must receive the Board of Directors' approval. Consultant Membership
Consultant membership is limited and a membership application must receive the Board of Directors' approval. If your firm is interested in joining the Association, please contact the TEXPERS office for more information.
Actuary Membership
Actuary membership is limited and a membership application must receive the Board of Directors' approval. If your firm is interested in joining the Association, please contact the TEXPERS office for more information.
Association or Employee Group Membership
