Six Cities and The Staff of a Dallas Pension Plan Join TMRS
The Texas Municipal Retirement System, the statewide multi-employer retirement plan, is managing the retirement benefits of six new participating cities and the staff of a Dallas pension plan.
On Dec. 10, TMRS announced the cities of Sandy Oaks and Todd Mission joined the system, which invests a $31 billion trust fund and manages retirement benefits for more than 175,300 current and former municipal employees. Sandy Oaks is located in southeastern Bexar County. Todd Mission is located northwest of Houston.
On Nov. 9, the retirement system announced the addition of the City of Orchard in Fort Bend County and the City of Sullivan City in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. On Nov. 1, the City of Garrett also joined TMRS, becoming the statewide system's 900th participating municipality.
On Oct. 3, TMRS announced that the City of Uhland in Central Texas began participating in the system on Oct. 1.
In addition to the new cities, the 24 staff members of the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System are also set to participate in the statewide system beginning Jan. 1, 2022. The pension plan's staff join TMRS under House Bill 4068, which passed during the 87th Legislature.
TMRS recently relocated its offices to 2717 Perseverance Drive, Suite 300, in Austin. The retirement system dedicated its new office during a ceremony on Dec. 1.
